ISOLATION/RESTRICTING FREEDOMS


-told you that you cannot do something
-jealous about who you see
-monitored your time and made you account for where you were
-did not allow you to leave the house
-made it difficult for you to get a job
-restricted use of your car
-restricted your use or pulled phone out of your hand
-tried to prevent you from contacting your friends or family
-withheld affection to punish you
-tried to turn people against you

MALE PRIVILEGE


-demanded obedience like you were a slave
-made decisions without your input
-treated you like you were inferior
-told you that you couldn't cope without him/her

SEXUAL ABUSE


-withheld sex to punish you
-pressured you to have sex when you had said no
-forced you to have sex against your will
-pressured you to have sex after being abusive towards you
-inflicted pain on you during sex
-pressured you or forced you into unwanted sexual acts
-treated you like a sex object

ANGER AND INTIMIDATION BY


-intentionally harming animals
-stomped out of room or house
-changing his mood suddenly
-giving the silent treatment
-showed you he was getting angry as a way of controlling you
-shouted or yelled
-pounded his fist on the table
-hit the wall
-threw or kicked something
-damaged your personal belongings

THREATS AND PSYCHOLOGICAL ABUSE


Threatens to:

-turn people against you
-leave the relationship
-see someone else
-take the children away from you
-leave you short of money(hiding money)
-come after you if you leave
-have you committed to an institution
-hurt or kill you and/or the children
-hurt or kill himself

OR

-blamed you for his problems
-drove the car in a frightening way

ECONOMIC ABUSE


-made you account for all the money spent
-threatened to keep you short of money
-lies about how much money there is
-made you ask for basic necessities

PHYSICAL ABUSE


-threw something at you
-pushed, grabbed or shoved you
-pulled your hair
-twisted your arm
-pinned you to a wall, floor, bed
-choked you
-kicked, hit or punched you
-hit or tried to hit you with something
-tried to run you down with a car
-threatened you with a knife, gun or other weapon

EMOTIONAL ABUSE


-said things to spite or insult you infront of others
-put down your physical appearance
-made out that you were stupid
-criticized your care of the children and/or home
-called you names and swore at you
-told you that you were crazy/irrational
-accused you of having an affair

Sometimes we can repeat patterns......and not even be aware, though we would not want
anyone else to live with these things.
